Limb salvage / Amputation Prevention services
Recent literature has shown that patients receiving a major lower extremity amputation have a significantly higher mortality rate as soon as five years after their amputation. Because of this, there has been an emphasis on limb salvage and amputation prevention during the last decade. This concept requires a coordinated effort between many specialties (podiatry, vascular, infectious disease, nephrology…) focused on efficient continuity of care.
