MIS (minimally invasive surgery) is one of the newer fields emerging in Podiatry. Attempts at MIS procedures were done in the past but with the advent of newer technologies, instrumentation capabilities are at a point never seen in this new modalities’ history.
In a nutshell, MIS procedures involve making small incisions (less than a half of a centimeter long most times) and using specialized burrs and cutting instruments as opposed to the larger, traditional instrumentation.
Research has shown these smaller incision surgeries lead to reduced morbidity as well as a reduced post-operative course and patient pain. At this point, MIS is only indicated for certain procedures and in certain cases… not all patients are candidates.

Radial Pulse Therapy
The FDA-cleared Zimmer enPulsPro RPT System is used by the Podiatry Doctors to deliver energy pulses straight to the soft tissue causing your pain. This procedure helps to activate the healing process by breaking up scar tissue and stimulating blood flow to your injury.
Inflammation and pain decrease as damaged tissue breaks down and healthy new cells replace it. It’s similar to a deep tissue massage, but it’s much more specialized.

The Cutera Laser Genesis system is a state-of-the-art treatment modality recently introduced to our office. The laser is primarily used for fungal nails and warts, and recent literature shows its improved effectiveness compared to older treatment options. Additionally, laser treatment for fungal nails avoids issues with side effects sometimes seen with other treatment modalities.
Sessions are done in the comfort of our office (although you must wear the Back-to-the-Future sunglasses during the procedures). For patients interested, call or schedule an appointment.
