Plantar Fasciitis
Wound care is paramount in the repertoire of a well-rounded podiatrist. Wound care normally refers to chronic wounds caused by systemic disease, and not your common scrape or laceration seen in an otherwise healthy patient. In our office, we offer a continuum of wound care practices including some of the newest advances available on the market, while keeping in mind cost effectiveness for the patient and health care industry as a whole.
We approach each patient using a multi-faceted approach engaging all medical professionals involved in the care of the patient (this may include your vascular doctor, infectious disease doctor amongst others). In doing so, we try to address the root of the problem as well as deliver superb wound care. Regardless of the underlying cause, we like seeing progress and make sure documentation of each patient and their wound is detailed to determine the efficacy of each treatment. If after four weeks the wound is not improving, a small biopsy is taken, and the treatment modality changed to give the wound the best chance at healing.
